Event 8
On Sunday the 10TH of September 2023 we witnessed another successful event! Many smiles and awesome medals.
Kids competing in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) can be a fantastic and enriching experience for several reasons:
-
Physical Fitness: BJJ promotes physical fitness, strength, and flexibility. Competing can motivate kids to stay active and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
-
Discipline and Focus: BJJ requires a high level of discipline and focus. Competing teaches kids the importance of setting goals, working hard to achieve them, and staying dedicated to their training.
-
Problem-Solving Skills: BJJ is often called "human chess" because it involves strategic thinking and problem-solving. Competing helps kids develop these skills as they learn to anticipate their opponent's moves and adapt their own.
-
Confidence Building: Success in competition can boost a child's self-esteem and confidence. Even if they don't win, the experience of competing and facing challenges head-on can build resilience.
-
Sportsmanship: BJJ emphasizes respect and sportsmanship. Competing teaches kids how to win graciously and lose with dignity. It also fosters a sense of camaraderie with fellow competitors.
-
Goal Setting: Competing gives kids tangible goals to work toward, whether it's winning a match or earning a higher belt rank. This can instill a sense of purpose and motivation in their training.
-
Life Skills: The lessons learned in BJJ competition, such as perseverance, dedication, and hard work, can be applied to other areas of a child's life, including academics and personal relationships.
It's important to remember that while competition can be a positive experience, it should be balanced with an emphasis on fun and enjoyment. Not every child may be interested in or suited for competition, and that's perfectly okay. Ultimately, BJJ should be a source of joy and personal growth for kids, whether they choose to compete or not.
